IN-DEPTH REVIEW
GAME COMPONENTS
We are in front of a dynamic board where you can choose if you want to follow a pattern or create a different board each time you play (the second choice sounds better, it can allow to increase game difficulty!)
In addition to that, remember we have hex tiles, so we could even increase map size! That is the reason of the double down option. More tiles, more players. you know
We also have merchant ship cards with the gold they carry and several utility cards, which can aid you in your quest for wealth!
ARTWORK
Simple but effective, simple in the way it clearly represents what it should represent, not using it as a pejorative term and effective because it is very well oriented and when all the tiles are placed you have a nice sea where everything is easily distinguishable.
+1 for this aspect since artwork orientates players.
RULES AND GOAL
First of all, you have the complete rules and a printable demo version in the following link:
http://boulderboardgames.com/Raid.htmlIn addition, you can also check the official instructional video here:
As the rules are very well explained, by this point we are going to talk about our own experience, we played a 2 players game and it was easy to learn, we both read the official RAID instructions and we just needed to check them twice during the game, we were trying to raid each other all the time and the Navy caught us once and again, it was funny but well, clearly not the best thing to do to win the game, a bit of strategy is always needed, mainly when you have to think about the resource cards.
The goal of the game is easy to remember… kill ‘em all, OK no, you have to look for the One Piece! Narr, you “just” need to be richer than your fellow pirates, which is not an easy task (experience told me.)
CONCLUSION
Reached this point, we want to point out that this game seems to be very, very dynamic, if you want to add a new rule when playing because you think it will improve your game experience just test it, game rules are so well designed that the game is fun by itself but, you know, we all feel that point of curiosity. In general terms, to prepare the board is easy, to play the game is also easy (in terms of rules) and you will enjoy it. If there was something “negative” to say it would be… the map is a bit small for 4 players, but as we have said, if you think it is small, it is easy to add more hex tiles!! Hope you enjoy it
We would appreciate so much your support! We will upload more reviews!

UPDATE!
We have tested the game with a prototype and it has improved our gaming experience a lot!
Although the quality is not the final one, the difference between a physical game and a print-and-play version is there. The hex-tiles are the most important difference between those two versions since a printed modular board may be a mess and the prototype has solid tiles so… We loved ‘em!
The next photo was taken before starting our first game, pawns are not correctly placed because I told one of my friend to guess where they should be placed, just a matter of intuition. Even though he did not place everything in the correct way, he was not completely lost, it took me around 10-15 minutes to explain the whole playing-system and they managed to play with few errors. We thought about adding more hex-tiles to create a bigger sea but the game was really funny and competitive as it was, so adding more tiles for a 4-players game is an option, not a must, HAVE FUN!!
