Hi everyone,
Production
This week production is scheduled to be completed. This morning I received the message that only the cargo for Germany is finished (about 25 % of the whole print run) which includes copies for the game fair at Essen and the fulfillment of backers from Germany and Norway. Obiously there was a misunderstanding between employees from my manufacturer Panda Games Manufacturing that caused my account manager at Panda to falsely believe until this morning that we are on time with the whole print run. I was pretty shocked since I was told so far that we are on time and I prepared everything for the ocean freight to start this week. Now only the ocean freight for Germany can start on time.
I don't really know yet why some part of the print run is delayed but I was told today that everything should be completed by September 20, and most copies possibly earlier.
I am waiting for more information why and how this could happen and how we can limit the delay. At the moment it seems as if some backers will still receive their games in October (especially those in Asia) but some others might receive their games in November. The good thing is that ocean freight to US is 18 days faster than to Germany so the cargo might not arrive that much later in the US compared to Germany. Depending on the final destination ocean freight including time at customs takes about 4 to 6 weeks approximately (freight to US and AU is the fastest and to Germany it takes the most time).
I am very sorry that some backers might receive their copy a bit later than planned. I did everything in my power to deliver as fast as possible. I hope that most cargo will be completed a bit earlier than Sept 20. As soon as I know more regarding the timeline, I will let you know.
Pledge Manager
I have sent out reminders to ask you to verify your address in the pledge manager a few days ago when I still expected all cargo to be ready for freight this week. The cargo that would go to Asia does not need ocean freight and is thus relatively fast. Since the timeline might have to change now, you have more time to verify or change your address in the pledge manager.
I will let you know before fulfillment starts just in case you need to change your address.
Bright Side
Today was a bit of a tough day for me so I try to look at the bright side.
Despite the competition of hundreds of new releases, Clans of Caledonia is among the 12 most wanted game at Essen! The feedback for the game is so positive!
Feel free to thumb or click "must have" in this Boardgamegeek preview list to push the game even more. In this list you can find the most wanted games.
I have managed to play 4 games with my mass produced copy of the game with metal coins (check out this picture). It was very enjoyable, the metal coins turned out great.
I also played with the KS bonus clan McEwen (the one that brews beer) once in a 4 player game. I scored 169 points and came second. This is a pretty good score but a score that I achieve relatively often. I do feel that the clan is balanced with the initial value of 9 pounds per beer produced. More sessions will hopefully confirm this inital impression. I definately like that clan very much because it is a rather complex challenge to choose the right contracts and have enough grain to produce beer. Also it feels very thematic.
Thank you for your patience and support!
