Hello everybody!
Today is a very special day, we are excited because we can show you the final sample of Medioevo Universale! Let me say that the first impact with this box is truly shocking: many of us realized only now how this game will be!
A dream finally came true!
As you can see in the pictures, we are talking about a huge game: the dimension of the box is about 63 x 41 x 13 cm, and games like Scythe seems very little compared to Medioevo Universale! The same thing is for weight: on the scale, the box (in its base version, without expansions) marks about 11 Kg, while the "Full optional" version reaches 14 Kg!
The box is amazing and massive, while the plastic tray is very useful to store all the components (about it, we verified that could contain all the components of base game plus expansions, sleeved cards included).
You will able to lift the tray-box and at the "ground floor" of the box, furthermore, you can find a special skeleton with 12 rooms, to place the miniature set of players and barbarians (and a lot more).
Also, the board is great: the one in the base game is 106 x 78 cm, while with the expansion we reach 150 x 78cm! So be prepared and start thinking about a new game table, bigger enough to play Medioevo Universale easily!
Any problems?
The main reason for the existence of that sample box is to allow us to verify that all is ok. Our main worries were about the dimension and weight of the game and about the structure resistance...
The first check we made is about the plastic tray: it's a giant tray which has to hold a big weight, so it needs to be very strong! We tested it and it successfully passed all our tries to destroy it!
Another possible problem was about the structure under the tray and the box which holds the tray. We need to be sure it can hold the weight. The structure passed our tests (also for the expanded game!), but to be sure to avoid any problem here we asked the producer to add an additional border to lower structure, to make it more sturdy, robust and stable.
Then we tested the upper tray ribbons: backers must be able to lift up the tray box to be able to access to space below. The sample has been made with two ribbon cloth bows, one for each side.
We made several tests, but we have to discard this option because, after a lot of uses, we noted that the ribbon bows are about to break or unglue from the box. We found a new solution: we will place a large ribbon under the box tray, so users will able to lift it a bit in an easy way simply throwing it, then they will able to take the tray-box with hands.
Fortunately apply these changes to the boxes will require a small work.
So, is this all ok?
We deeply checked all contents to be sure that all elements were as requested. After 5 days of tests, all contents passed our tests, less one: the cards. The colors and linen finish are really good.
But, going deep on them, we realized that the hardiness, the thickness, and the weight was different and lower than we requested. For example, the thickness was low.
We want to do the best for this game, so we cannot accept any "downward compromises". For this reason, we asked the manufacturer to check this problem and to reprint all cards with the high-quality paper which this game requires.
They will send us a new sample of cards asap, and we will update you on that, then they will print them for all boxes.
Unfortunately, this decision means a delay in the shipment of the games, because of this new process, but we hope that it will require few weeks. We are sorry about this, so please accept our apologies, but we promise that this extra time to wait will be worth it.
Thank you very much for your help and support!
