Welcome, and thanks for joining us here in Darkstone!

Got a question, I can see that the gameplay is based on a scenario book instead of a board (which is something I really like, BTW). I was wondering, in terms of replayability: is there a set number of missions in the campaign or what you see in the first playthrough is gonna be different from the second one?

Hi,

There will be an update on Gamefound because this is an interesting and exciting question, but I can answer you in a short way. We have been tested the first 5 scenarios a million times and we built a mechanism in the game that assure that 2 sessions with the same scenario never will be the same. Yes, the map is the same and the challenges (challenges=mini adventures) dedicated to the Zones are the same, there are so called Oracle cards you have to draw at the beginning of each round. With the Oracle cards you have choose between two paths: more threat with less loot or more loot with less threat. Both the threat and loot will be different in each round which determinates your possibilies and choices in the game. Additionally, you do not have enough time to face all the challenges of a scenario, so maybe you do different challenges with another replay. I can tell you that the replayability is surprisely high.

Our aim was to model a movie-like story. The story is strong and prewritten but the way you go through a scenario is very different each time. In a normal dungeon crawler game you have to choose which scenario you want to do after finishing one. But in Reign of Hades you have to choose during the scenario. The different challenges create different experience.

Hello Legend Crafters team!  :)

Thanks for joining us!

Regarding the playable characters, what criteria did you follow to select the gods that are part of the base game? And how are their powers mechanically implemented?

In Reign of Hades, cooperation in teams of two is the essential part of the game. There is close collaboration and simultaneous actions between two players. I was wondering if you would be so kind to comment on how will this work in solo mode, please?

Hi and welcome!!!

This sentence reminds me of the gameplay of Star Wars Imperial Assault, where each scenario at the end was a quagmire where you had to choose between taking boxes or achieving the objective since the number of turns you had to do it didn't allow you to go for both options.

¿Is this game something like that?.

"Regarding the playable characters, what criteria did you follow to select the gods that are part of the base game? And how are their powers mechanically implemented?"

Zeus was an easy choice since he is the boss and if Hades want to take over the throne he has to deal with Zeus. But from the other point of view, we wanted different roles: Zeus is the leader, Athena is the defender/tactician, and tactician Artemis is the rogue/shooter and Hephaestus is the tank/crafter. They have different fighting style, different weapons (all weapons has special ability in this game, even a broken bottle has) and of course different character abilities. Every character has 3 Ability: one Brawl for bare hand fight, one ability for battlefield position and one for cover position. These abilities become stronger during the campaign but in a non linear way.

"I was wondering if you would be so kind to comment on how will this work in solo mode, please?"

As I mentioned the team is a pair of characters: one in battlefield and one in cover. In solo mode (or in 2 player mode) there is a lone wolf position. The lone wolf character takes advantages from the environment (it means two deck of extra cards, like "throwing sand" or "take cover behind a rock"-like stuff). So the lone wolf characters support themselves during the combat. The lone wolf character is in battlefield and cover positions of course. I can tell you that very enjoyable to play solo as a lone wolf :)

"¿Is this game something like that?."

I really like Imperial Assault (because of the theme, I guess), but - and it is my personal opinion - sometimes I hated that no time to loot enough
or fight enough during a scenario. So there is time limit in Reign of Hades too, but since the buying new weapons/items is part of the gameplay and there is no market like stuff between the scenarios, the time is not as strict az in IA.
But challenges are not about the loot but about the adventure, the storytelling instead.

Please, consider making a solo and 2 players playthrough so we can get an impression of how it feels to play a lone wolf character.  ;)

Also, here some character suggestions:

- Aphrodite: wizard

- Apollo: paladin

I know that this is the main question here... The official answer is that we are in discussion with a Spanish publisher but there is no agreement yet.

My personal opinion: the board game industry and market has changed a lot in the past ten years and it is very risky to publish a game without knowing it will be a real success or not. Additionally, there are a certain amount of cards with texts in Reign of Hades...

I think after the publishers play with the prototype and there will be how to play videos on youtube, the chances will be much better.

I can assure you that I will inform as soon as we an agreement with a publisher.

Thanks for the question. The anwer is: yes. Each player has their own characater. You can play this game in solo, with 2, 3 and 4 players.
If you play a 2 player game, the downtime is zero, because the 2 players play simultanously. Of course, the character in cover position should wait for the battlefield character's moves in combat, but this is cooperation. Everything should be discussed.
